Journey to the Fatherless
This unique book will reinforce the perspective on how important the Church and each member of the body of Christ are to the children of the world and especially to the needs of the fatherless. As the Church awakens to the cry of orphaned children on her doorstep, may she dispatch the vast resources entrusted to her; acting as agents of Christ’s righteousness, justice, and mercy on this earth.
For years, a small and persistent band of people within the Church have accomplished much, with very little, for the orphan. They are radical in their passion and their numbers are growing. They are making an incredible difference worldwide. May the emergent power and beauty of the Church validate and encourage these defenders of the fatherless who adopt, who provide foster care, who care for orphans and who help vulnerable children – over and over again.
This book is not a theological treatise on the biblical basis for adoption. It is not a handbook covering adoption questions, or does it provide orphan care or foster care training. There are already excellent texts available in these areas.
The real purpose in writing this book is to help the Church both awaken and prepare her people for the journey to the fatherless. Both of these actions are important. If all the Church does is awaken her members to the need then the full potential of her power will not be realized. Without proper preparation, those who venture out can be blindsided and easily disillusioned. Until local churches are able to begin this process in earnest, may they at least encourage those already engaged in their own adoption and orphan care ministries as they continue the pursuit of caring for the least of these.
It is my hope that this book will reinforce the perspective on how important the Church and each member of the body of Christ are to the children of the world and especially to the needs of the fatherless. As the Church awakens to the cry of orphaned children on her doorstep, may she dispatch the vast resources entrusted to her; acting as agents of Christ’s righteousness, justice, and mercy on this earth.

Is this just another book about adoption?
Not really. This book is about awareness and preparation – for those in leadership and for those called to adoption, foster care, visiting orphans or helping vulnerable children.
Journey is for leaders who must help others become aware of God’s heart for these children. Journey is for ordinary people who must prepare well before they begin their venture.
Journey is for the Church. The book’s theme verse is from our guide who will travel with us
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” (Isaiah 30:21)
